GRASS Members

Membership of GRASS is a meaningful way of having a say on issues that affect your area. We talk to our members to gather their views on what matters most to them about living in Cliftonville, and try to use those opinions to guide the community work GRASS undertakes.

Being a member ensures you will be kept informed of our work and what’s going on within the GRASS area, and the wider Cliftonville community.

Membership is open to all Margate residents who are over 16 years of age and who are interested in the improvement of the area, regardless of nationality, race, ability, marital status, sexuality, gender, or religious beliefs.

There are two types of GRASS membership:

  • Affiliate Member – You can live anywhere in Margate to be an affiliate member. You will be included in all GRASS email distribution lists, invited to all AGM’s and general meetings and consultations on future developments at GRASS. This membership option does not enable you to vote on GRASS matters, nor stand as a committee member.
  • Full Member – To be a full member your primary residence must be located within the GRASS area on either: Gordon Road, St. Paul’s Road, Sweyn Road, Percy Road, Edgar Road, Stanley Road, Cliftonville Mews, or Ethelbert Crescent (between Sweyn & Edgar). In addition to all the ‘affiliate member’ benefits, full members are able to vote at AGM’s and general meetings, as well as stand for election as committee members.

Membership of the Gordon Road Area Street Scheme is FREE, and you can be involved as much, or as little, as you like.

Some of the recent projects GRASS members have helped with include:

GRASS members also often help to organise GRASS community events:

As a GRASS member you’ll receive a free copy of GRASS ROOTS, our quarterly newsletter, which will keep you up to date with our community work and any involvement opportunities we think you may be interested in.

Other member benefits include regular social events so you can meet your neighbours, priority tickets to GRASS events, prize draw at AGM, and competitions.
